Gynaecological Scans

Certain symptoms benefit from an pelvic and/or abdominal ultrasound scan to enable your consultant to see any possible internal issue. At the Surrey Park Clinic we offer a private scanning service for your peace of mind.

Common reasons for having a gynaecology scan include:

Types of scan:

Transvaginal scan of the pelvis (TVS)

This involves placing a small probe the size of a tampon into the vagina. This should not be painful. The TVS is performed with an empty bladder which must be emptied no more than 30 minutes prior to examination.

Please note a TVS scan cannot be performed on a patient who is virgo intacta (hymen intact). Patients under 20 years of age will have an external Transabdominal Scan instead.
