Why have a scan?

Many people wish to have diagnostic tests such as scans without the need to wait for a referral. Symptoms such as pelvic pain, or bleeding in pregnancy can be very worrying. Whilst the symptoms may not be severe enough for your GP to feel that a scan is justified, it nevertheless may be very helpful to have a scan of the affected area in order to rule out a problem or provide reassurance.

Ultrasound scan

At The Surrey Park Clinic, ultrasound scans are performed by very experienced ultrasonographers every day including Saturdays. Types of scan include pelvic (gynaecology scans) , pregnancy scans (including early scans for reassurance and anatomy scans) and abdominal scans.

Other types of scan

Other types of scan include bone density scans (screening) to exclude osteoporosis especially in women with hormonally related problems or other risk factors.
